When the two met in 2015, Clea Shearer and Joanna Teplin were both new Nashville residents; both hailed from California, and, independently, each had their own successful careers. Shearer had worked for MySpace and The RealReal, leading the company’s public relations and social media strategy, while Teplin, had her own boutique greeting card line.

It was “friendship at first text” when they were brought together by a mutual friend. They became business partners immediately thereafter. They founded The Home Edit with the goal of reinventing traditional organizing by merging it with design and interior styling.
